3 Korean Traditional Dishes - Kimbap, Japchae, Jeon #1 한식 3종세트 - 김밥, 잡채, 전 #1

Today, I am cooking Korean. And mostly traditional and very popular dishes.
I make the 3 most famous ones :
Kimbap 김밥 (rice roll)
Japchae 잡채 (stir-fried noodles)
Jeon 전 (savory pancake)

1. Kimbap

Koreans make Kimbap like we would make PB&J in the US or a simple ham sandwich in France.
Yeah... it's crazy.
But actually, it is pretty easy to make.
You don't even have to have all the "must" ingredients.
If you have your well seasoned rice with some veggies and meat, it works perfectly!
Roll it, Roll it !!

The main difference between the sushi, the most common rolls you would find easily in restaurants and markets, and Korean Kimbap is how the rice is seasoned and what is inside of the roll.

The rice is seasoned with sesame oil and salt for Kimbap.
Whereas the common sushi is seasoned with vinegar, sugar and salt.
You can already imagine the taste!

For 2 bowls of rice, add two pinches of salt and drizzle the top generously with sesame oil.
And mix.
The rice is ready!

For what is inside, usually we put egg, carrots, spinach, cucumber, ham, picked radish, seasoned burdock. We also put (add or substitute) fishcake, crab leg, tuna (with mayo), cheese, kimchi, beef (bulgogi), spicy pork or chicken, fried chicken, etc.
The carrots are sliced in thin julienne, then sauteed quickly with some salt and oil.
The cooked spinach is seasoned with salt and sesame oil.
The eggs are mixed like making an omelet but fried flat.
Other ingredients are cut in thin sticks.
There are so many variations!!!
You, the chef will decide what to put in!
One last advice, think about the colors when choosing what to put inside the roll!

ENJOY !!!
